Thrilled to Join a Book Club

A Wole Lot of Fun

I’ve never joined a book club before, and I’ve got to tell you, I couldn’t be more excited. At this time, the book club is limited to my co-workers (Sara and Katie). They are ideal people to talk about books because, like me, they’re not too serious. To say we laugh a lot is an understatement.

Our book club focuses on a broad subject matter, from sci-fi and fantasy to horror and mystery, we read it all except romance. Our first book was The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, and our next book is I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid.

For me, joining this book club was a breath of fresh air. Reading books has always been a solitary practice. I ingest books–drink them down and swallow them up. But, joining the book club has given me a chance to express my thoughts about the books in a way I’ve never done before. I am definitely out of my comfort zone . . . and that’s a good thing.

Call me an addict if you like, but after getting a taste of one book club, I joined another. The other book club is restricted to graphic novels and our first comic is going to be March by Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell.

If you have an interest in book clubs or have any books that you’d like to recommend, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts.
